MEET THE BAND
Cheryl Serame-Turk: Vocals
Cheryl Serame-Turk is a versatile, classically trained vocalist and flute player whose rich sound spans Jazz, R&B, Funk, Latin, and Gospel. A seasoned performer and recording artist, Cheryl has been a featured soloist with The Glide Ensemble and has shared her soulful voice across major venues like Kuumbwa Jazz, Stern Grove, and the San Jose Jazz Festival. Whether delivering a tender ballad or a groove-driven anthem, her music is deeply felt.
Chick Peterson: Guitar
Driven by passion and a deep love for music, Chick arrived in San Francisco aboard a weathered blue bus with a band from Iowa called The Leapers. He quickly transitioned from sound engineer to lead guitarist, immersing himself in the vibrant North Bay music scene. Chick evolved into a multifaceted musician—songwriter, producer, and bandleader—firmly rooted in the Bay Area. His guitar style grew from many influences - Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robben Ford, to name but a few - creating a distinctive sound defined by groove, tone, and versatility.
Walter Pope: Keyboard
Walter is a freelance pianist/keyboardist who plays popular music and jazz. He has studied classical piano technique under the late Lora T. Scott. Later he was tutored by bassist Herbie Lewis. He also studied harmonic theory at San Francisco City College. This included instruction from Rebecca Mauleon.
He has performed with many bands and musicians including Niagerian singer Eddie Okri, the San Francisco Filmore Jazz Preservation Band under the directorship of trumpeter Dave Hardiman,Calico Crew, Samba do Coracao, Mark Williams, Carla Kaufman, and many more.
Kevin Amos: Drums
Kevin has had rhythm in his bones from the very beginning—by his own telling, it all started with a sparkle-blue Mickey Mouse drum set gifted by his grandparents at the age of three.
Today, Kevin holds a B.A. from Humboldt State University and an M.A. from the University of Akron. A versatile percussionist, he has developed a deep command of both drum set and a wide range of classical and world percussion styles. Known as much for his humility as his talent, Kevin brings a grounded, collaborative energy to every project he joins.
Clark Seal: Percussion
Clark is an accomplished percussionist and performer whose lifelong connection to rhythm began at an early age. Guided by his Central American heritage, he developed a deep passion for percussion, exploring the rich traditions of Latin American and global rhythms.
Clark studied Afro-Brazilian rhythms and samba under master drummer Fernando de Sanjins, later joining his performance company Samba do Coração. With the group, he performed extensively across the Bay Area, appearing at major events such as the San Francisco Ethnic Festival, the San Francisco Carnival Parade, and productions with Bill Graham Presents, among many other venues.
